Coding is about telling a better story

Many people see coding as a burdensome task that one must do to receive payment from third party payers. If you look at it that way, it’s not very interesting and we tend not to do it very well. However, what if you look at coding as telling the patient’s story? Explaining the “who-what-where-when-how-why” in the most detailed and accurate way possible?
If we see coding as telling a better story, then coding becomes a challenge that engages us, producing better and more accurate results.

Our Services

Chart Audit and Documentation Advice

You don’t need a consultant to ride in and pronounce your coding “good” or “bad.” What you really need is a partner who can train your team and give them the necessary tools to ensure the highest possible quality in billing, coding, and documentation. You can move forward confidently— knowing that your coding is the best that it can be.

Coding
Analysis

Do you know the quality of your coding? Highly skilled coding experts from obgyncoding.com can look at data from your current billing system and quickly identify areas that need to be reviewed and target potential areas of exposure that may bring your practice unwanted attention from the government and other third-party payers.

Coding Education Brought to Your Site

Live training for providers and staff is the best model because it allows interaction between the trainer and those receiving the education. In addition, the entire staff in your practice can be educated for little more than the cost of sending just 1 Person to a conference. Plus, you improve your revenue flow by eliminating the travel time that extends the time that you are away from the office

Customizes Online Live Coding Education

Take advantage of the best of both worlds—combine our recorded online education with a live online session designed specifically for your practice. This service allows you to have the training customized to your needs, as well as providing the opportunity for direct interaction with our coding expert. Obtain personalized training at your convenience without interrupting your schedule.

format_quoteMr. Hart is a consummate professional with the utmost attention to detail and immense knowledge. I have followed him at his ACOG presentations as well as individual courses which are outstanding. But when we started my own practice, we consulted him to assist us with issues, learning and improvement of our billing and coding and his services have been superb.  We have improved our efficiency in coding billing and collections.

Our Values

We will always…

1. Adhere to the highest possible ethical standard

Adhere to the highest possible ethical standard. This is true in our business dealings and relationships with our partners and in all of our advice to our partners. We will not counsel clients to “cut corners” or take actions that have even the appearance of impropriety. Clients have the right to take our advice, or not. However, if clients choose not to take our advice on ethical issues, we may not be the right partner for you.

3. Promote our passion for story-telling

We will do everything possible to encourage our clients to see coding as we do-telling the most accurate story about “what” was done and “why” it was done, using the appropriate procedure and diagnosis code sets.

2. Strive for excellence in all that we do

Strive for excellence in all that we do, including exceeding partner expectations. “Settling” or “meeting the minimum standard” is not acceptable and is not tolerated. We will provide the best advice and education avallable in an environment of service excellence,

4. Educate in an engaging way

Provide interesting and relevant education that emphasizes our belief that coding can and should be fun. Identifying the correct code is like solving a mystery-what code(s) best describe the patient’s care and condition(s)? Because we value excellence and love coding, it will be obvious in the education that our partners receive.

FAQ

CLIENTS & SERVICES

What kinds of clients work with OBGYNCODING.COM?

OBGYNCODING.COM’s clients fit a broad range of categories…

  • Size:  Solo practitioners to IPAs with over 300 physicians
  • Type:  Academic health centers to physician owned private practices
  • Specialties:  General OB/GYN to Reproductive Endocrinology to Maternal Fetal Medicine to GYN Oncology and others

Do you perform chart audits?

Yes, but for many different reasons…

  • For smaller practices that don’t have their own Quality Assurance Departments and who want to understand and ensure that their coding and documentation is compliant.
  • For larger practices with QA Departments, OBGYNCODING.COM provides second opinions and additional expert advice.
  • For practices considering a merger or purchase of another practice, OBGYNCODING.COM provides an independent third party opinion about the coding/documentation of the physician/practice they are looking to acquire—potentially avoiding serious problems in the future.

What is the most frequent service that you provide?

The most commonly provided service by OBGYNCODING.COM (other than providing advice/responding to questions) is onsite education.  Essentially, we are able to bring the renowned ACOG Coding Workshop to your location for presentation to your physicians and team members.  In some cases, practices have joined together with their competitors for a joint training, which is particularly cost effective.

What services can you provide off-site (remotely)?

Because of the technological and software available, we can provide the following services off-site:

Chart audits (when charts can be electronically transmitted in a HIPAA compliant fashion.)

Meta-analysis of CPT and ICD-10 code usage, which can provide insight into coding patterns and can give direction to more targeted chart audits, investigation, and training.

Online coding education, designed specifically for your practice.

FEES

Of course, but services will generally be more expensive than the unlimited email access available through the “Add a Coding Expert” package.  For example:

Base hourly rate: $175.00
Single telephone call/email question: $49.00*
Package of 5 email questions $199.00*
Package of 10 email questions $349.00*

Why are packages not refundable?

OBGYNCODING.COM limits the number of clients that it accepts to be able to provide the highest quality of service.  When you purchase a package, we essentially reserve time/space for you, which is then not available for other potential clients.

EXPERTISE

How did you develop your expertise?

It’s a mixture of years of experience as a practicing coder, years as a practice manager in OB/GYN and OB/GYN subspecialty practices and two Master’s Degrees in Health Care Administration and Business Administration.  Of course, serving as a faculty member for the ACOG Coding Workshops provides me with access to the latest cutting edge information.  Finally, years of experience in academics has developed a particular skill in delivering education in an engaging and effective manner.

What makes OBGYNCODING.COM different than other local coding/billing consultants?

There are many great billing and coding consultants and you may be well-served by a local consultant.  However, OBGYNCODING.COM does nothing but OB/GYN and, because of our experience and access to information, you won’t find a consultant anywhere with more information or expertise in meeting your billing/coding needs.  In addition, in OBGYNCODING.COM, you have a nationally recognized coding educator that will grasp and keep the attention of your providers and team members.

Are your clients happy with your service?

The years-long relationships that we have with our clients says a lot about our client’s satisfaction  Here’s what a few of them have said…

  • “I was dreading this training.  But you made it interesting and practical.  Thank you.”
  • “I’ve heard several presentations on ICD-10.  Yours was the clearest and most meaningful that I’ve heard.”
  • “Thank you for working with our billing staff.  They’ve really stepped it up since you were here.”
